After her husband&#8217;s death, she regained her&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dowry\">dowry<\/a>, using the money to build a hospital where she herself served the sick. She became a symbol of Christian charity after her death in 1231 at the age of 24 and was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Canonize\">canonized<\/a>&nbsp;on 25 May 1235. She is venerated as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saint\">saint<\/a>&nbsp;by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Catholic_Church\">Catholic Church<\/a>. She was an early member of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Third_Order_of_St._Francis\">Third Order of St. Francis<\/a>, and is today honored as its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patron_saint\">patroness<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">St Elizabeth was an amazing woman and sadly she died so young.
