About Rahima
I spend a lot of time in my garden and wanted to find a way of integrating that with my printmaking. Composing with the natural forms themselves arose as one solution. There are two zinc plates here one has a floral image drawn into the waxy ground with a stylus. These are then bitten in acid which produces the intaglio crevices to hold the ink. Then hydrangeas, honesty and eucalyptus were the main other components which I placed over a soft waxy ground and passed them through the press .Once removed the resulting indentations in the ground exposes the metal to be bitten again. The fine detail is more intricate than a drawing ..I have overlaid the two printing plates so that only the central part overlaps. This is a unique version. Other combinations of the plates and colours will result in a quite different print.
