About Jackie
In 1983 I gained a BA Hons in Fine Art in Bristol. Since then I have continued painting drawing and printmaking. I have regularly shown my work around Oxfordshire. I am a member of Oxford Art Society and Oxford Printmakers Co-Op.
For the past six years I have had cataracts and found it difficult seeing especially in day light. For years I have been drawing different subjects from life. But because I could not see very well I started to take images from my imagination based on past experiences and emotions. Now I can see again the two different approaches have been combined. Both objective and subjective. I also write Poetry which is an important part of my visual imagery.
During the lockdown I have been producing watercolours acrylics and Etching and Aquatints based on nature. We loose contact with the natural world and natures laws when we live in cities. We embrace material objects thinking they make us happy. But it is nature that we must embrace for this planet to survive. It is nature that feeds our intellect and science. And it will be nature that gives us solutions and the joy of breathing.
